Comprises an aluminium arc printed with degrees 0 to 90 supported in aluminium fork fixed on aluminium base. The fork holding the needle can be rotated on metal/bakelite base to take the angle of dip.


DEFLECTION MAGNETOMETER   (1510)

Comprising a bakelite box 100mm dia with aluminium dial marked with degrees 0- 90º four times, antiparallax mirror and a steel needle pivot at the centre. The short magnetic needle has a jewel bearing and an aluminium pointer for precise reading on the dial. This magnetometer compass box is fitted at the centre of one metre long wooden board with two half metre scales reading from the centre of the compass box complete.


VIBRATION MAGNETOMETER   (1511)

A wooden box with two glass doors. A glass tube supported at the centre on top of the box supports a stirrup with a silk thread. The floor of the box has a mirror with an index line supplied with a 100mm bar magnet and al00mm long brass bar of the same size.

An improved rugged model providing fixed frequency of 50 dots per second, operating on 5-12 volts AC. Design is such that there are no parts to adjust loose or to wear out. A cycle dynamo on a wooden base 200x115x12mm. and provided with two sets of gears driven by a hand crank for fast or slow rotation. Two 4mm socket terminals are provided for the dynamo output, connected in parallel with an M.E.S. lamp holder and 2.5V bulb.


LENZ’S LAW APPARATUS   (1526)

Consists of 2 metal rings connected by an aluminum beam that can rotate freely on a support. One of the rings is a closed loop; the other has an opening for comparison. When a bar magnet moves into or out of the loop, the magnetic flux will change. According to Lenz’s law, a current will be induced in the loop to oppose the change. Students can verify the law by analyzing the movement of the loop.
